Its inception in 1981, KPJ Healthcare has expanded from just two hospitals - one in Johor Bahru and one in Ipoh - to become the largest private healthcare provider in Malaysia with 20 hospitals across both Peninsular and East Malaysia as well as two in Indonesia. It is one of the most important players in the development of the healthcare sector in Malaysia, whether it is through technology adoption, specialist services or medical tourism. As the world enters the second decade of the 21st century, KPJ Healthcare is able to look back at 10 years of exceptional growth, with optimism that the next 10 years will be just as good if not better.

HEALTHY GROWTH IN 2O1O

Just as with any company, the financial performance of KPJ is a reflection of its strengths. According to non-audited results as of the Q3 2010, KPJ enjoyed revenue of RM1.22b from January to September2010. This was a significant growth from the RM1 .0b. It recorded during the corresponding period in 2009. Owing to that, there is much confidence that KPJ Healthcare will be able to surpass its previous year’s record of RM1 .46b worth of turnover.

With that, KPJ would have had five consecutive years of growth, with revenue rising from just RM659m in 2005 to an estimated RM1.5b by 2010.

It is a highly impressive result that is testament to the culture of excellence that has made KPJ the preferred healthcare provider for so many. Having been in operation for 30 years, KPJ has managed to build up a repertoire that has seen entire generations of families seek out its hospitals when they require medical treatment.

A TRUSTED HEALTHCARE PROVIDER

These people are not driven by any sense of nostalgia or brand loyalty.

Instead, their confidence and trust in KPJ is driven by the exemplary service standards and philosophy of care that has become an intrinsic part of the group’s operations for three decades. They turn to KPJ because they know that KPJ will provide them with the best in all areas of medical care. As such, in 2010, KPJ hospitals have served and treated more than 2.2 million out-patients and more than 220,000 in-patients.

Over 750 medical specialists -including some who are recognised as being the best in their field in Malaysia - work at KPJ hospitals.

Aiding them in diagnosing, treating and helping patients recuperate is a team of healthcare professionals such as lab technicians and pharmaceutical assistants.
