    Health Tourism

Over the last decade, Malaysia has grown by leaps and bounds to become a medical tourism destination of high renown. KPJ group of hospitals have been receiving many health tourist patients from all over the world for various kind of treatments.

In ensuring patient safety, KPJ Hospitals have embarked on many initiatives to improve the Quality of care to customers including the certification of the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH), which is internationally linked to the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).  KPJ hospitals have implemented the Integrated Management System (IMS) to guarantee high hospitals in the group have been accredited by SQH. Meanwhile, 4 of these hospitals are accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI).

KPJ Batu Pahat Specialist Hospital (KPJ BPSH) is strategically located within Batu Pahat town and the capital of Batu Pahat district, Johor, Malaysia.   It lies southeast of Muar (a royal town), southwest of Kluang, northwest of Pontian and south of Segamat.  The name Batu Pahat means "chiselled rock" in Malay.  The origin of this bane can be traced back to local lore in 1546 when the invading Siamese troops led by Admiral Awi Di Chu were chiselling rocks at a rocky spot in the coastal village of Kampung Minyak Beku, in the hope of getting fresh water during their siege on the Malacca.uploaded picture

The town is easily accessible via land and sea from various cities and other provinces; including neighbouring countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.  Patients or visitors may travel using land transportation as there are available express bus coaches from Singapore and Hat Yai (south Thailand) and stop at Express Bus Terminal in Batu Pahat.  Aside from that, ferry services are also available regularly from Selat Panjang (located in Sumatra, Indonesia) to Batu Pahat Minyak Beku Ferry Terminal; also from Tanjung Balai, Karimun and Sekupang, Batam to Kukup International Ferry Terminal (located in Pontian).

Foreigners come to Batu Pahat, Johor for medical/health tourism due to the competitive costs of healthcare services, complemented by the existence of excellent medical technology and infrastructure at KPJ BPSH.
