KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital (KPJ DSH) is located in an upscale area of Kuala Lumpur that has become a centre for expatriates and young urban executives. With 232-beds currently, KPJ DSH offers accredited, state-of-the-art treatments in first-rate facilities. Currently, KPJ DSH consists of 84 residents, sessional, and visiting medical consultants, backed by a staff strength of over 722, comprising dedicated nurses and paramedical staff from all disciplines of medicine. In terms of bed occupancy rate, it has 228 licenced beds as at March, 2021. Annually, we serve more than 150,000 patients (outpatients: 168,347, inpatients: 10,178), out of which 30 % are international patients. International patients most commonly seek this hospital's services in Cardiology, Bariatric Surgery, Oncology, In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), Orthopaedic, Paediatric & Neonatology, and Health Screening.
KPJ DSH is fully accredited by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH). To ensure it is able to run smoothly, the hospital has implemented an integrated management system in accordance to ISO 9001: 2015 QMS, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 OSH and ISO 22000: 2005 for Food Safety Re- certification (2018). It is also recognised by the Ministry of Health as a Baby-Friendly Hospital (BFHI) since 2005. KPJ DSH was also certified with the Gold-Level Excellence in Person-Centred Care from Planetree International, the first and only in the Asia Pacific region.

We have baby hatch at KOJ Damansara. The Baby Hatch initiative starts from 2015 and we had received total no of 9 babies since then. (6 boys,3 girls).
Our Women's Healthcare Centre takes a holistic approach in addressing health issues related to women, to help them lead healthier and longer lives. Given our focus on improving patient experience, care and health outcomes, KPJ DSH established its very own Women's Healthcare Centre which essentially covers key areas namely Fertility, Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), Breast and Endocrine, Geriatrics, as well as Clinical Oncology and Radiotherapy. In addition to that, virtual consultation, home care service, Infant CPR, Parentcraft class and medicine delivery to patient door steps our value-added services.
KPJ DSH's Women's Healthcare Centre provides a range of services to provide preventive and curative care healthcare treatment for women, taking on a women's perspective. We do this because we understand that the manner in which women experience and respond to illnesses are different.
KPJ Damansara Fertility Centre is set up and run by experienced specialists and embryologists who are taking care from basic screening to comprehensive services, including In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) with Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS), Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), Egg Donation, Egg Freezing and Embryo Freezing and etc.
Besides the Fertility services, our Women's Health Centre also has a pull of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) specialists responsible for taking care of our patients, especially for Women's health-related issues, including pregnancy and cancer-related. In addition, most of our specialists are also "Key Opinion Leaders (KOL)" who are active in sharing information and educating the community through the media platform or SOCMED. One of the specialist who are active and also celebrity doctor is Dr Imelda Nasreen Nasruddin @ Balchin. To date, we have 9 Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialists with the sub-specialist including Gyne-Onco.
Since the mother is always concerned about the children or baby, especially for the new parent, we at KPJ Damansara Specialist Centre have a group of paediatric specialists and sub-specialists who are experienced in handling various cases from general-to-general complex, including new-borns. In fact, our NICU is equipped with the latest technology and is a referral centre for Klang Valley. The NICU ward is also recognised as level 3B, which is one of the higest standards to provide intensive care for babies born at almost all gestational ages, from “very premature babies” at 27 to 30 weeks and above. The achievement under Paediatric are: -
1. Lightest premature baby weight 430 gram treated by Datuk Dr Mohammad Iqbal Mohammad Sarwar.
2. 11 months baby with Hydrocephalus treated by Dato' Dr Zurin Adnan Abd Rahman
Since our paediatric team is very strong, we also help the government support NICU babies and other treatments during the pendemic under decanting programme.
Our contribution to Women's Health continues by having an experienced specialist and support medical team in handling complicated cases, including cancer and non-cancer cases such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, fibrosis etc. Besides the specialists and medical team, the hospital is also equipped with the latest machine and technology such as 3D Mammogram, 4D Ultrasound, 3D Laparoscopy, HD Colposcopy, Breast Ultrasound, Pelvic Floor Muscle Tighten Machine, CT scan, and Linear Accelerator (LINAC). In KPJ we have 2 oncologists and Breast Endocrine surgeon.
During the pandemic, we are active in accepting and treating cases related to Women's Health for international patients, especially cancer, via medical evacuation. For example, one of our cancer survivors was from Pekanbaru which treated by our oncology Dr Aminudin Rahman Mohd Mydin and Breast Surgeon Dr Naqiyah. She is currently in the recovery process and continues to follow up with the specialist.
Besides that, we have also received another case from Indonesia, and the patient was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer and treated by Dr Rajeentheran (urologist) and Dr Sangeetha (Oncologist) for six months.
Recognising our responsibility to the underprivileged and low-income communities, we implemented the Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (YAWAS) – State Gov Agency MammoSel Programme, where we provided since 2015 till this year >2000 women with Mammogram check-up for free. The service mammogram extends to biopsy if the findings are abnormal. Lembaga Penduduk Dan Pembangunan Keluarga negara ( LPPKN) collaborate with us for HSG (Hysterosalpingography) and Mamogram since 2015 also.
Klinik Wakaf An Nur where women are provided healthcare services for little as RM5 and conducted Free Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercise programmes during the International Women’s Day.
In term of increasing awareness on the availability of the Women’s Healthcare Centre, we proactively promote our services and track record on social media, namely via Facebook, Instagram, Website, SMS drop and EDMs as well focusing on mental health, pregnancy during COVID-19 (vaccinations, health, pre and post-pregnancy health tips), overall women’s health, cervical cancer, breast cancer and more. We also enlisted the assistance of social influencers to highlight the importance of 3D mammograms, pregnancy journey at KPJ DSH, cancer screening and other packages offered. We achieved a total viewership of 560k throughout 2021.
Based on these initiatives, we have received enquiries on women wellness packages, mostly from women aged 40 and above, while women aged 30 and below tend to inquire on our Mammogram Package (3D Ultrasound package), Women Wellness Package, HPV vaccination, Women Cancer packages and Maternity Packages.
