Dato’ Dr. Hj. Zakaria Bin. A. Kadir commenced his practice in KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital in October 1998 as a Resident Consultant Physician & Neurologist. He started his career in 1987 at Seremban General Hospital and later at Hospital Bahagia, Ulu Kinta. In 1988, he was a Registrar in General Medicine Department at Kuching General Hospital. Dato’ Dr. Hj. Zakaria has served at Western Infirmary, Glasgow as a Registrar in Epilepsy Research Centre in year 1990 to 1992 and later at Institute of Neurology, Southern General Hospital. In year 1993 to 1995, he was also a Clinical Specialist in the Department of Medicine and Pharmacology at University Hospital, Universiti Sains Malaysia cum Honorary Lecturer, School of Pharmacy Universiti Sains Malaysia. He was a Consultant Physician at Ministry of Health then he moved to Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Liverpool as a Senior Registrar cum Lecturer.
