    Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP)

    Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a type of hospital-acquired pneumonia that occurs more than 48 hours after invasive mechanical ventilation (MV) via an endotracheal tube (ETT) or tracheostomy.

    The number of Ventilator-associated pneumonia per 1000 ventilator days in selected ICUs is the standard measure for surveillance such as Mechanical Ventilatory Assistance for at least 2 consecutive days.
