Dr. Chen graduated from the University of Malaya with M.B.B.S in 1982. After Spending two years in the district hospital, he started training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Sarawak General hospital in 1986.

In 1988, Dr. Chen went to Leeds General Infirmary in the United Kingdom for further training under the British Council Fellowship Programme. There, he was further trained in the skill of Colposcopy and Kiellands forceps delivery. He passed the MRCOG Examination in 1989. Upon returning to Sarawak, Dr. Chen was posted in Miri General Hospital as a Clinical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 1991, he was posted back to Sarawak General Hospital as the Head of the O&G Department. Subsequently, he decided to leave the public service and set up private practice at Damai Specialist Centre for Women. He eventually joined Kuching Specialist Hospital in 2007.

Apart from practicing as an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant, he also has keen interest in Anti-Ageing Medicine particularly in the use of bio-identical hormones, anti-oxidants and neutraceuticals.
