    Dr. Florence Bakon obtained her MD from the National University of Malaysia (University Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM) in 2001. Dr. Florence did her housemanship at Sarawak General Hospital from 2001 to 2002.

    Upon completion for her housemanship, Dr. Florence served as a Medical Officer at Miri Hospital under Paediatrics Department and was subsequently stationed in Miri City Policlinic and Maternal and Child Health from November 2005 to February 2008. Dr. Florence completed her Paediatric training in Paediatric Gastroenterology at University Malaysia medical Centre (UMMC) and Paediatric Dermatology at Kuala Lumpur (HKL). She obtained her Masters in Paediatrics from the National University of Malaysia in 2012.

    After obtaining her Masters, Dr. Florence served as a Paediatrician at Sarawak General Hospital. Subsequently, she left the public service to join Kuching Specialist Hospital. Her special interests are in the field of Neonatology, Clinical Immunology as well as Allergy. In 2015, she underwent a fellowship in Clinical Immunology & Allergy at UKM Medical Centre. Dr. Florence has also participated in multiple healthcare missions with clubs and associations such as the Rotary Club and Mercy Malaysia.

    Besides that, Dr. Florence is also a Senior medical Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine in Univesiti Malaysia Sarawak since June 2012. She has published papers in local as well as international journals in the field of Neonatal Care and Primary Immunodeficiency. In year 2013, she was privileged with the 1st Young investigator Award from Nestle Nutrition Institute of Research in Premature instant Feeding.
