Dr. Shehab completed his MBBS from JNMC Medical College, India and subsequently obtained MS (General Surgery) from UKM, Kuala Lumpur. He then pursued further training in Minimally Invasive surgery in India & South Korea. He has been awarded the Diploma plus Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (DMAS +FMAS) by the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons as well as Certificate of Advanced Course for Robotic Colorectal Surgery, Severence robot and MIS Center, Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea.

His specialty now resides in the quiet proficiency & extensive work experience he has accumulated as a general surgeon for more than a decade in Sarawak General Hospital with an innate flair for colorectal surgical procedures as well as minimal invasive surgery and robotic surgery. The skill for all procedures, whether conservative or minimally invasive, or a mix of the two and the judgement as to which will be optimally suited to the circumstances, has been the hallmark of his professional career. His area of practice includes cancer surgery, endoscopy, hernias, breast and thyroid surgeries.

He is also involved in imparting knowledge to the younger generation, contributing towards training of many undergraduate medical students. Currently serving as Honorary Adjunct Clinical Lecturer for undergraduate medical program of the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, Sarawak University of Malaysia (UNIMAS) as well as an examiner for the final Professional Examination (Clinical). He has also served at various times and periods as an Honorary Adjunct Clinical Lecturer/ Supervisor, Out Campus Medical Specialist Master Program of UKM. He has been the organizer/ part of organizing team for various medical workshops and demonstrated live laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. He has also been involved in various clinical studies as principal; investigator and or co-investigator.
