Dr. Soon Su Yang graduated from University of Nottingham, UK in 1992. After completing his housemanship, he worked as a Senior House Officer in general medicine and obtained his MRCP (UK) in 1997. He then decided to pursue higher specialist training in gastroenterology and general internal medicine. The specialist registrar rotation took him across several teaching hospitals in London including King’s College hospital, Guy’s hospital and St Thomas’ hospital. At St Thomas’ hospital, he worked under the guidance of Sir Richard Thompson, the Queen’s physician. After obtaining his certificate of completion of specialist training in 2002, he did research in pharmacokinetics
and inflammatory bowel disease with Jeremy Sanderson, Secretary of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
He has published many papers in international peer reviewed journals and is a registered Gastroenterologist and General Physician with the General Medical Council, UK. His interests include inflammatory bowel disease, Hepatitis C and Endoscopies, amongst others.
He returned to Sarawak in 2004 and work in UNIMAS and Sarawak General Hospital before joining Kuching Specialist Hospital.
