Mohana Raj Thanapal obtained his medical degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2004 and went on to complete his MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) and Masters of Surgery (Universiti Malaya). He has also obtained his FRCS in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons England.
Upon completion of his postgraduate studies in 2012, He was practicing in Hospital Kuala Lumpur, HKL as a general surgeon. He joined the Malaysian Colorectal Subspecialty programme in July 2015 and completed his training in October 2019. He had his initial 2 years of training in Malaysia. Subsequent Overseas Colorectal Fellowship training was in the United Kingdom under the International Surgical Training Programme (ISTP) organized by the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) England. During his stay there; he did his clinical attachment in Whittington Hospital and St. Mark’s Hospital, London.
