Dr. Sim earned his Medical Degree at Australia's University of New South Wales. He then went on to complete his postgraduate studies in orthopaedics at University Kebangsaan Malaysia, following which he completed his fellowship training in spine surgery at the National University Hospital in Singapore.
Dr. Sim has been regularly performing various spinal surgeries since 2003, including treatment for degenerative spine diseases, spinal fractures, slipped disc, spinal tumour, and scoliosis. He has a special interest in the field of minimally invasive endoscopic spinal surgeries for conditions such as prolapsed disc and endoscopic decompression for spinal stenosis. This approach has achieved good outcomes in selected patients with the least collateral damage to the surrounding tissue, is less painful after surgery and provides a faster recovery period.
Dr. Sim is also capable of treating various spinal and back pain conditions using methods such as epidural injection, nerve root ganglion block/RF, facet block, Nucleoplasty and percutaneous disc laser decompression, and vertebroplasty for pathological spine fractures. This approach has achieved good outcomes for the majority of patients with persistent or chronic back pain, who are otherwise not suitable to be treated with major surgery.
