Dr. Thirumurugan completed his medical degree (MBBS) at Melaka Manipal Medical College, Manipal University, India, graduating in 2009 with placement on the Dean’s Honor Roll for scholastic excellence. He subsequently underwent his internship and early orthopaedic training in Malaysia, gaining broad clinical exposure in tertiary government hospitals before pursuing specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery.

He completed his Master of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, and was later certified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM). Following this, Dr. Thirumurugan was selected into the Malaysian National Spine Subspecialty Training Programme, where he underwent advanced spine fellowship training at Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Hospital Sungai Buloh.

To further refine his expertise, Dr. Thirumurugan completed an international fellowship in Spine Surgery at the Department of Spinal Surgery and Neurosurgery, Berufsgenossenschaftliche Unfallklinik (BGU) Frankfurt am Main, Germany. During this period, he received advanced training in complex spinal trauma, deformity correction, and modern spinal instrumentation techniques. He also holds a fellowship in Pain Medicine, which complements his comprehensive approach to spine care.

Dr. Thirumurugan is a board-certified Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon specializing in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) and Endoscopic Spine Surgery. His clinical practice focuses on the management of spinal trauma, degenerative spine disorders, and spinal deformities, with an emphasis on techniques that minimize tissue disruption, reduce postoperative pain, and facilitate faster recovery, while maintaining high standards of surgical safety and outcomes.
